The motto of the course is "Understanding by Doing".
Practical exercises are an important part of the course.
Lectures and exercises will provide basic knowledge on:
. Motion control, kinematics.
. Sensors, perception, data fusion, image processing.
. World model, navigation.
. Behavior control and planning
Exercises are based on the simulation environment SimSpark for robotic
soccer with humanoid robots "Nao" as used in the international RoboCup competitions. The JAVA based "RoboNewbie" framework provides a fast and easy start for programming own robot controls.
Requirements:
Students should have good understanding of formal/mathematical
descriptions as required for courses in computer science and technical
sciences. They need access to a lab computer or laptop during the course, and they should have experiences in JAVA programming. Students are recommended to work in teams of 3-4 members.
Preparation:
Students are recommended to download, install and test the software on their computers as described on the web page www.naoteamhumboldt.de/projects/robonewbie/.
