Course on Cognitive Robotics with practical exercises

Faculty of Electrical Engineering

Tue October 22nd - Thu Oct 31st

Lectures: S1 10:00-11:30

Exercises: 1-09 12:15-12:45

The motto of the course is "Understanding by Doing".

Practical exercises are an important part of the course.

Lectures and exercises will provide basic knowledge on:

. Motion control, kinematics.

. Sensors, perception, data fusion, image processing.

. World model, navigation.

. Behavior control and planning

Exercises are based on the simulation environment SimSpark for robotic

soccer with humanoid robots "Nao" as used in the international RoboCup competitions. The JAVA based "RoboNewbie" framework provides a fast and easy start for programming own robot controls.

Requirements:

Students should have good understanding of formal/mathematical

descriptions as required for courses in computer science and technical

sciences. They need access to a lab computer or laptop during the course, and they should have experiences in JAVA programming. Students are recommended to work in teams of 3-4 members.
