Internship Programme of the German Business
Within the framework of the Internship Programme of the German Business, young graduates and students from the Western Balkans absolve three to six months long internships in leading German companies, moreover they get an insight in German business culture. After their stay in Germany, the students will use their experiences and contacts to support the reconstruction in their home countries by doing so, the economic relations to Germany and within the Western-Balkans will be strengthened. The program serves to bring the regional reconciliation forward, intensify economic relations and create a cross-sectoral network of young, cosmopolitan professionals in the regions.
The programme was established in 2003, after the assassination on Zoran Djindjic, Serbia’s Prime Minister, when the Eastern Committee of German economy initiated in collaboration with the German Federal Ministry of economic co-operation and development, the Zoran Djindjic Internship Programme. The goal was to hold up the Premier’s legacy and to bring the region, Serbia and its people nearer to the European Union. In 2007, after three very successful years, the Zoran Djindjic Internship Program of German Business was extended to the other countries of the Western Balkans.
